Who are we?

UTS provides transportation for students, elderly, developmentally disabled clients, and clients of all age ranges to school, work, doctor’s appointments, etc. We primarily service the City of Cincinnati, Warren County, Fairfield, Middletown, Hamilton, Westchester, and Dayton, OH areas. We also help transport students via our yellow bus service for Cincinnati Public Schools. This position is for a Yellow Bus Dispatcher servicing the Cincinnati Public School District.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Communicates all relevant details of driving assignments to drivers to ensure proper execution.
  • Maintains radio contact with all drivers to relay relevant information regarding route changes, road conditions, or other pertinent information.
  • Keeps a record of all written communications on file.
  • Notates changes on route schedules and daily logs.  
  • Reroutes and reschedules any additional trips as required.
  • Assigns substitute drivers as needed to mitigate transportation delays and ensure route coverage.
  • Escalates unresolved issues to management as appropriate.
  • Thrives in a challenging, fast-paced environment.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

  • Education and/or Experience – High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; two or more years of yellow bus dispatching/customer service experience strongly preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Language Skills – Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to interact clearly and effectively, in both written and oral communication, with agencies and customers.
  • Mathematical Skills – Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Computer Skills - To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient in personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc. This role requires an above-average knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Other Qualifications - Willingness to work flexible hours.
